Peptides in 3D

Inside a peptide vial

Take a peptide vial apart in 3D: the cap, the seal, the stopper and the freeze-dried powder. See what lyophilized, bacteriostatic water and reconstituted actually mean.

Educational content, not medical advice. Follow your pharmacist's or prescriber's instructions.

Lyophilized powder

Many peptides ship freeze-dried. Water is removed under cold and vacuum, leaving a dry cake that stays stable far longer than a liquid would.

Bacteriostatic water

Sterile water with a small amount of benzyl alcohol, a preservative that slows bacterial growth.

Reconstituted

Reconstituting means dissolving the dry powder back into a liquid. That's all the word means.

The closure

A plastic flip-off cap keeps the stopper clean, an aluminum crimp seal holds the rubber stopper in place, and the stopper is designed to be pierced and reseal.
