What people research this for

After a stroke, people want to get back as much movement, speech, and independence as they can. Two peptides have been studied for brain injury after a stroke. Neither replaces emergency stroke care or rehab.

Researched for

  • Recovery after a stroke
  • Brain injury from lost blood flow
  • Protecting brain cells

What the studies say so far

A Cochrane review, one of the most careful kinds of research summary, looked at Cerebrolysin for strokes caused by a blocked blood vessel. It found limited evidence and rated it low certainty. The Semax research here is in rats, where scientists tracked how immune and inflammation genes responded after blood flow to the brain was cut off. For most peptides, no benefit after a stroke has been shown in people.
