What people research this for
People living with chronic hepatitis B want to keep the virus under control and protect their liver. One immune peptide, thymosin alpha-1, was tested for this years ago. Antiviral medicines are the standard treatment today.

What the studies say so far
Thymosin alpha-1 was tested in hepatitis B trials before today's antivirals were in use. A 2018 review went back over those older trials and argued that combining it with modern antivirals may be worth studying again. That is a call for more research. Results from the older trials were mixed, and the peptide is not a cure on its own.
